What People Are Saying

Virtual sessions were a magical mixture of science, art, and fun.

My girls are 6 and 9 and they love Science Riot Grrls! The two-hour virtual sessions were a magical mixture of science, art, and fun. Their favourite session involved building a model paper human brain that they could wear on their heads like a hat.  I really appreciated that you provided everyone supplies in advance – it was exciting for them to receive and look through their packages before each session.  I also liked that the zoom sessions were kept small so that every child got individual attention.

Spotlight[s] diverse people that are contributing to science and technology

The curiosity, confidence and love of science that Science Riot Grrls brings out in kids is amazing. We love how they spotlight diverse people that are contributing to science and technology – a lot of the experiments and history they share are ones that most kids don’t have a chance to learn about elsewhere.

Rich Learning Experience

From her very first day of Science Riot Grrls, my daughter was absolutely enchanted. She comes home after each session brimming with excitement to share about the fabulous projects she’s working on. I’m a teacher, and I am so incredibly impressed with the way Wendy is able to incorporate background knowledge about scientific concepts into her extremely hands-on activities. These kids are doing everything themselves! Wendy always highlights specific female scientists whose work has been instrumental in the field they are studying, to the point where my daughter talks about these amazing women like they’re old friends. Aside from the rich learning experience Wendy creates, she also nurtures an open, cooperative atmosphere where the participants feel independent but supported and comfortable. My daughter can be a bit shy sometimes, but in no time she was belting out songs and building and laughing with her new group of friends. Whether she’s building solar-powered boats, pinhole cameras or rockets (yes, actual rockets!), this experience is also building her confidence and love of learning. My daughter is so proud of the things she makes and learns at Science Riot Grrls that we just keep signing up again and again, and she always looks forward to it. Wendy is a flexible, kind and incredibly thoughtful educator for these lucky kids. I’m so happy we found Science Riot Grrls!

Empowers the kids with advanced technical knowledge but also integrates female focused science history to make it a STEAM program through and through.

“Science Riot Grrls is an incredible science experiment based kids enrichment program. My ten year old daughter Esmée has been attending the weekly after school program for the past three years. Esmée is a shy but inquisitive person, who is easily spoken over at school. Not at Science Riot Grrls! Wendy and her crew were able to bring Esmée out of her shell and boost her confidence by helping her apply her own innate gifts and curiosity to many fields of science. Through hands on experiments in biology, robotics, electronics, chemistry among other fields, Wendy not only empowers the kids with advanced technical knowledge but also integrates female focused science history to make it a STEAM program through and through. Science Riot Grrls is an exceptional educational enrichment program that I only wish was available to every child in our public schools!”

Easygoing way with the kids that makes science fun

Bea has been going to Science Riot Grrls for a number of years. She always looks forward to going and Wendy has an easygoing way with the kids that makes science fun . Bea has transferred her enthusiasm for SRG to a love of science in general. When we asked Bea what she likes the most, she said, “Elephant toothpaste. Doing the experiments and making things like robots! We highly recommend Science Riot Grrls.
